What the hell is this?
What this is
The result of frustration at the state of the world right now, a curiosity of how far AI can be pushed, and puppy-like ADHD fueled energy.
It is a demonstration that with a phone in your hand (90% of this was done on smartphone alone) anyone can 'emulate' art now. I'm not a musician, not a writer, I'm a pharmacist who enjoys musicals, with an active right-sided brain. But this technology now allows anyone to express, in crude terms, something they might see in their head.
It is a piece of fiction, from the webpage, through the songs, and little ideas of how I would see it in real life. But the premise is something I do feel is true. That social media could of, and perhaps was for a time, a good thing, that opened up the world. But that ultimately it has become something designed to make the richest 5% even richer, building inequality both financially and politically. It is in the shareholders holders interests to fuel clicks, scrolls and rage, and we have all been the hamsters in the wheel.
However, more concerning than the disturbing levels of money we are talking about, is the political weaponisation of the platforms. They have managed to paint a world around people, that without trying really hard to keep a grip on reality, will consume people and become their truth. The enemy is not the neighbour on their street, or the person fleeing war.
What this is not
An attempt to be something trying to pass off as authentically human. It is a demonstration of AI's potential, and yes, an eye-opener to me that the creative industries should be concerned. But ultimately, I really wish I could see what I've 'generated' here in real life with actual people.
Why
Because I could. Because I was curious. Because it was fun. If any streaming generates revenue, this will be 100% passed onto local community good causes; let the irony continue to the very end.
Could you bring this to human life?
